A lovely pair of portraits of a young French couple. Well painted with delicacy to the faces, lace and earrings in particular.
They seem a very nice innocent young married couple. Quite charming. Very sadly, by repute, within a year of the paintings, the husband had been killed by a wild boar.
Both are signed lightly in red paint top left: H Legret, 1845
French regional school early 19th century .
