A good and large sailor's woolwork or 'woolie' of a three masted frigate, sailing on an exceedingly choppy sea under moody skies and with cliffs and a lighthouse all too close.
British, mid 19th century.
With great sense of movement and drama, with good colours overall. The woolie is on an old stretcher and has at a point in time been professionally laid onto a newer linen support.
In a fabulous period rosewood frame, under glass.
