"Tis a gift to be simple"
- Shaker Elder Joseph Brackett, 1848
I work with my husband, Peter Lang, and live in the pretty village of Thakeham, at the base of the the South Downs, in West Sussex, UK.
We have been collecting and restoring naive, folk and provincial pictures and objects for many years, and decided recently to put our collecting onto a more formal basis, primarily because we have too much to display at home! Hence this new selling website which we do hope you will enjoy.
Please contact us through the site giving the reference number or description of the item about which you want to enquire. We will be very happy to answer any questions you may have. We do not have a shop, but are delighted to welcome visitors to view our stock (with a cup of tea) by appointment.
In the unlikely event that you are not happy with any item purchased from us please:
For over the past 20 years we have worked as restorers of fine objects in tortoiseshell, ivory, mother of pearl and other specialist natural materials, under our business name of Coromandel
Our clients are private collectors and top dealers both in the UK and abroad. You may have come across us if you are interested in this area of antique collecting. You can check out our work at www.antiqueboxes.com.
Payment, Packing and Postage
We do not accept credit cards and prefer payment by BACS direct into our account. Payment can also be made by PayPal subject to an additional 5% fee added to the item cost. £ Sterling cheques are also accepted. Goods will not be despatched until payment has been received through our bank.
We are happy to pack and post smaller items, which we would send through Royal Mail covered by insurance of £2500. For shipping abroad or for larger items generally, we would recommend a packer/shipper. Please be aware that when shipping out of the UK goods may be held at customs and local import taxes may apply. We have no control over this and cannot accept any responsibility for any financial loss.
And this is Humphrey our well loved rag doll cat. And despite being 18 years old remains far prettier than we are!
Descriptions, Sizes and Frames
We always try to be accurate with our descriptions. If you should note any fault please bring it to our attention for immediate rectification.
The sizes we give for each item are approximate.
Picture frames, particularly antique frames may show signs of age and wear commensurate with their age.
